After a 5-1 hammering the last time they faced off, Cape Town City boss Eric Tinkler has told his manne to set the record straight when they go to Benni McCarthy’s AmaZulu on Sunday.
City were humiliated at the hands of former coach McCarthy in PSL action in April.
The post-match controversy of City players embracing McCarthy marked the beginning of the end of his successor Jan Olde Riekerink’s time in charge in Cape Town.
And Tinkler says his players have to get their heads in the game for this weekend’s MTN8 quarterfinal.
Asked about his players’ mentality ahead of the clash, he says: “I think it might still be in the back of the mind. But for the right reasons.
“It should be in the back of their minds and they should go out and set the record straight.
“That should be the objective.”
Tinkler will be hoping to get experienced new goalkeeper Hugo Marques a work permit in time to face AmaZulu after his arrival yesterday.
The Portuguese-Angolan stopper has been brought in with Darren Keet ruled out for six months with a thigh muscle tear.
