A dom drug mert from Lotus River is behind bars after he mistook cops for customers and was caught with more than R3000 worth of drugs on Friday.
Grassy Park Police Station commander, Colonel Dawood Laing, says wakker cops pounced on the drug runner when they realised he meant to sell them drugs when he approached their vehicle.
“At about 11.30pm on Friday, officers were patrolling in an unmarked vehicle, when they saw the suspect,” the top cop explains.
“As they were driving up Rietbok Street in Lotus River they approached a shop on the corner and the man walked right up to the car not knowing police were in the vehicle.
“He thought it was a customer and tried to sell them drugs. But the officers jumped him and during a search found him with 100 packets of tik, 12 whole mandrax tablets, four half mandrax tablets and an undisclosed amount of cash.”

Laing says the man had all the drugs and cash hidden in his pockets and got a helse skrik when he realised what was happening.
According to a police source the man is a well-known drug dealer for the boss of the Six Bobs gang who runs the drug turfs in Lotus River.
Laing confirms that when the suspect was taken to the police station it was discovered that he is a member of the Six Bobs and had previously been arrested for smokkeling.
“He was charged with dealing in drugs and will make his first appearance at the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court [today]. It was confirmed that he had other drug cases.”
DOM: Skelm arrested for merting drugs in Lotus River
Laing says the arrest shows how brazen the merts have become, but warns that Grassy Park cops are coming for them.
“They had no idea the officers would be in that car and so they just brazenly sell like they want to, but they are going to walk them vas,” he cautions.
“The station is coming for them and the drug merts must expect more surprises in the future.
“I am calling on the community to piemp these people so we can see a change in the Grassy Park community.”
