A woman was killed after both a Golden Arrow bus and a taxi knocked her. The incident happened on 2 April in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain, Golden Arrow confirmed.
According to witnesses, the woman had been crossing the road when she was first hit by the bus.
The impact caused her to land in front of the taxi and she was knocked to the middle of the intersection on the corner of Kilimanjaro and Sentinel roads.
“I heard the bus hit her before I looked, and then I saw the taxi hit her also. She went against the front and the side of the taxi, damaging it.
“She had no visible injuries except for her face, which was covered in blood. Someone made a video of the damage, but the lady did not survive. She died there alone.”
The bus and taxi drivers immediately pulled over and emergency services were called in.
Nobody on the scene could immediately identify the victim, who looked to be in her 30s and was wearing a pink tracksuit.
Golden Arrow spokesperson, Bronwen Dyke-Beyer, confirmed the incident.
“I can confirm the tragic incident which occurred on 2 April. Our most sincere condolences go out to the deceased’s loved ones. An investigation into the cause of the incident is underway and the driver has been suspended as per company policy,” Dyke-Beyer said.
