A young Mitchells Plain father was tragically killed on Friday afternoon when he was run over by a Golden Arrow bus at the Cape Town Terminus.
Shahied Moosa, 33, of Lost City, died on the scene.
Witnesses say Shahied, who is a bus commuter, was crossing one of the lanes as a bus entered the terminus.
They claim the bus made a sudden, sharp, and quick turn and hit Shahied.
Faizel Solomons, 42, from Kensington says he saw the entire incident.
He says Shahied was a familiar face on the terminus.
“We heard a bang, like an explosion, when the bus turned into the terminus and we saw him on the ground.
“He was still alive and everyone called emergency services and police. It was a very sad thing to see,” he says.
Golden Arrow Bus Services spokesperson, Bronwen Dyke-Beyer, said the incident was a tragic accident and sent condolences to Shahied’s family.
“We can confirm a tragic incident occurred at the Golden Acre terminus on Friday evening in which a gentleman ran in front of an incoming bus.
“Our driver was not able to stop in time and he was knocked down. His injuries were severe and he passed away at the scene,” Dyke-Beyer said.
“Golden Arrow has been in contact with the family and would like to once again send our heartfelt condolences to all his loved ones.
“Our driver has been suspended as per company policy so that the matter can be investigated.”
