Cape Town City will take a goal advantage into their MTN8 semifinal away leg after beating Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 on Saturday.
Centreback Taariq Fielies smashed home after a well-worked set-piece in the 75th minute at Cape Town Stadium, finally capitalising on their great play.
City were full value for their win as they look to return to the final they lost last year to SuperSport United.
Winger Craig Martin, busy midfielder Thabo Nodada and playmaker Ayanda Patosi kept the PSL champions on their toes, who hit the woodwork twice.
But it was the hosts who found the back of the net in the end with next Sunday’s second leg promising to be as exciting as this weekend’s encounter.
Benni says: “At one stage if anyone of us was to put the ball on target it was bound to go in because it was coming.
“I’m very happy for the boys because they preserved and never gave up.”
“The set-piece is what we’re good at. We’re dangerous. We practiced it so it’s good to see that one of them came off.
“I’m happy for the boys but it’s only 45 minutes. So now we are going to go there and try to defend the 1-0 win.
“Not that we will defend but we’ll try play the same football we played today to try and put them under pressure.
"Hopefully we will have to see ourselves in the final.”
