Liverpool have to ruk themselves reg when they take on Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp’s manne gave a swak performance in their 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atalanta on Wednesday – a result that blew their Group D wide open.
Liverpool produced no shots on goal as strikes by Josep Ilicic and Robin Gosens sunk the lacklustre Reds, who still lead the pool by two points but have made things tricky for themselves with two games to play.
And James Milner says his teammates have to skrik wakker.
The veteran says: “We know it was a poor performance, pretty flat. Obviously [there were] a lot of changes again and we just never got going, which is disappointing.
“I think there were a lot of players who haven’t played together and the schedule is busy, we keep saying it.
“We didn’t create enough, didn’t keep the ball enough, we just didn’t have that sharpness really so it’s disappointing. But we’re still top of the group so we have to recover and go again at the weekend, another big game.”
Milner urged his team to dig deep this weekend as the race for the Premier League title heats up.
He says: “Sometimes you just have to try to get a win without being at your best and maybe not having the level that we would like to have.”
Meanwhile, Anfield will be allowed up to 2 000 spectators in the stadium from next month.
While fans will get to see their champs live in action for the first time since being crowned, Manchester’s clubs, United and City, weren’t as lucky and will not be allowed to host fans for matches.
