Cape Town City boss Benni McCarthy admits that his side’s poor start to the season could cost him his job.
The Citizens have failed to win any of their last five games across all competitions, which has left the Capetonians down in 11th in the PSL.
And having announced that he’ll be targeting the league title, things have gone horribly wrong.
McCarthy and chairman John Comitis have also been sitting vas on transfers and with results not going his way, the Bafana Bafana legend realises that things must turn around on the pitch.

He says: “We’ve added far better players to our squad than we had before but things are going pear shaped.
“Maybe I must go back to grinding out wins getting dirty the old fashioned way.
“In this bubble that we are in we are too set on playing beautiful football nice passes etc.
“But if you don’t get results beautiful football ain’t going to keep you in a job. Four heads have rolled already.
“I could be next because I bought into this beautiful football stuff and forgot what I installed in the team that made us what we were and who we were.
“Now that mentality is going out the window. We want to do it the Man City way Barca way. But it ain’t working.”
Consistency and hard work have been the watchwords in the City camp of late as McCarthy called on his players improve.
Ahead of Saturday’s PSL away game to Soweto giants Orlando Pirates, the former striker says he is not impressed with his manne choosing big games to play their best football.
The coach adds: “The short mindset of saying ‘we face Pirates this week, so let’s play well,’ I don’t think that can sit well with me because I can’t coach players who have that small mentality of preparing for big games and up their game.
“But the games that matter most and games that win you the league, they don’t show up, I just can’t.”
