Benni McCarthy hopes to get his PSL title challenge back on track when he takes his Cape Town City to AmaZulu on Tuesday (7.30pm).
City have failed to win their last five league games and are currently 10th on the log.
But against bottom club AmaZulu, coach McCarthy hope his manne can get back to winning ways.
Talking about his goals for the season, he says: “We’ve hit a bit of a slow puncture.
“You’re playing good entertaining football, scoring lots of goals, but you simply can’t seem to get over the line.
“So I’m saying it’s a slow puncture. We don’t know where the hole is that’s leaking, that’s slowing us down.
“But we’ll work on it and we haven’t given up on it. Maybe it’s high aspirations but we think we can compete and challenge for the league.”
City will have to shore up their defensive leaks, having seen his side draw 3-3 at Orlando Pirates after leading 2-0 on Saturday.
The Bafana Bafana legend says: “Maybe I need to do what they do in NFL football and employ a defensive coach to come held us in defence and [help] us [to be] organised, so we don’t leak goals.
“Again, away from home, [we concede] three goals, then you’re disappointed.”
McCarthy will be looking to rotate his squad to keep his players fresh as they host Maritzburg United on Friday night in what will be their third game in six days.
