Proteas seamer Vernon Philander returned to First Class action for the Cape Cobras on Monday.
Philander took the field against the Dolphins at Newlands after shrugging off an ankle injury.
And the 33-year-old announced his return in style, claiming the wicket of opener Vaughn van Jaarsveld with his seventh ball after the Cobras decided to bowl first.
Van Jaarsveld, on six, edged a Philander (2/34) delivery to wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne.
But it was Mthiwekhaya Nabe (5/60) that stole the show for the Cobras on the day.
After removing opener Sarel Erwee for 35, Nabe then got the wickets of Sibonelo Makhanya (0), Robbie Frylinck (15), Keshav Maharaj (10) and Okuhle Cele (5) to claim his fiver as the Dolphins were bowled out for just 225.
Cody Chetty (71) fought hard for his team before he was caught behind off the bowling of Tladi Bokako.
When it was their turn to bat at a windy Newlands, the Cobras lost Janneman Malan for six after he was clean bowled by Proteas star Robbie Frylinck.
The veteran was in red-hot form, claiming the wickets of Zubayr Hamza (17) and David Bedingham (0) with consecutive balls as well.
The Cobras will resume their first innings on 45/4 on Tuesday.
