The Proteas’ third and final T20 against Zimbabwe rained out without a ball being bowled in Benoni on Sunday.
Still, the South Africans won the series 2-0 after winning the second match in Potchefstroom on Friday by six wickets.
Stand-in captain for the final match, JP Duminy, believes SA gained a lot out of the series against their neighbours after also winning the ODIs 3-0.
Duminy explains: “If you look at the series, I think it was said at the start that this was going to be one series where a few guys would get opportunities.
“And I think we did just that.
“The batting order was a bit unsettled, so guys got some batting time and opportunity.
“In terms of the greater scheme of things, in terms of the ODI series, not a lot of high scores were scored.
“But I think selectors got a look at some guys.
“[Man of the Series] Immy [Imran Tahir] was fantastic, and the way Pato [Dane Paterson, who took 2/22 in the second match] stepped up in the last game was exceptional to see.
“Good things came out of the tour and we’re going into Australia with confidence.”
