The man who came up with the PSL safe bio-zone gedagte, Mahlane Phalane, has told clubs not to blaas their kans to resume.
The league was given the all-clear by government this week to resume training as the PSL finalise the all-important venue where the season will be completed.
Clubs and staff will have to stick to strict health protocols to make sure that they keep the spread of the coronavirus to a minimum or else their plan will stall.
And while clubs and the league are raring to get things going, PSL medical consultant Phalane says haste could cause disaster.
He tells IOL: “There are certain things that we cannot rush. We can’t say the incubation period should be less than 14 days.
“There’s scientific evidence that needs to be collected. There are areas where things can be quick and there are areas where we need to be patient.
“So we should use the time not necessarily as a delay but rather to refine our plans so that the implementation is seamless.”
With Stellenbosch, Kaizer Chiefs and Bloem Celtic confirming Covid-19 cases in their camps, Phalane has urged everyone, especially the players, to continue practising safety protocols.
He says: “We cannot over-emphasise it enough for individuals, especially players, to ensure that they keep personal and team responsibilities.
“One lapse in the entire process might just contaminate
everything, spoil everything for everyone, and just collapse the situation.”
