The Proteas’ ultimate master blaster Lance Klusener believes Temba Bavuma is ready to make an impact in T20 cricket.
After 36 Test matches and two ODIs for the Proteas, Bavuma is yet to make his debut in the
shortest format of the game.
With the first T20I against India washed out on Sunday, Kaapenaar Bavuma is in line to make his debut on Wednesday.
And batting coach Klusener believes the 29-year-old has a key role to play in the future.
Klusener explains: “He [Bavuma] was the Man of the Match in the Mzansi T20 League final.

“It’s easy to pigeonhole him and say he plays Test cricket.
“[But] Temba is a wonderful all-round cricketer. Yes, he may have to add a couple of options.
“He’s not the biggest guy, so he can’t muscle the ball over the fence, but there are different ways of doing it. It’s about us giving him that option. “I am uncomfortable to say he is a red-ball cricketer. He just needs that opportunity and he will get it on this tour.

“He is ready to make that transition to being somebody in the engine room rotating strike and having good plans, with big hitters that can bat around him.”
