Quniton de Kock has called on his players to fight hard against India in the first of three T20Is on Sunday.
De Kock, who will lead the Proteas in the shortest format of the game, believes they are entering the unknown.
With next year’s T20 World Cup in mind, the Proteas are in a rebuilding phase after the disappointment of not making the knockout phase of the 50-over World Cup.
De Kock, though, doesn’t want his players to be scared and instead has called on them to show some fight.
He explains: “Obviously coming in we’ve got a lot of new players.

“Win or lose, I just want the guys to make sure they keep fighting.
“As long as they keep doing that, I’m sure we’ll be in good hands.”
Not having played at the HPCA Stadium - the venue of the first match - before, De Kock says the experience will be an entirely new one for the team.
The 26-year-old wicketkeeper/batsman explains: “We’re coming into the unknown, so we will have to assess the conditions quickly and just adapt.”
