There's this weird thing that happens between generations, where the older generation turns to the younger and explains to them how they have it so easy and how they (the older generation) ultimately did things in a more wholesome way and built gees and integrity in the process.
This is simply not true, especially when it comes to alcohol and roads, and not dying in an unnecessary crash. That’s right, “older” generation, the laaities are starting to get it more right than we did.
Of course, young men still top the stats when it comes to death on the roads, but Bobby Nitro is noticing a cultural movement toward just being more sensible. Designated Dave, the sober driver, is a reality in some circles, as is the preference to take other transport.
However, this debate about blood alcohol levels and just how much can be drunk and when, and then the necessity to police the laws, as well as the enormous cost to us, does tend to postpone the inevitable. Perhaps it’s time to start thinking about separating drinking and driving altogether.
Perhaps not allowing any alcohol to be consumed before driving is the way to go. It will take the guesswork out of cases, free up resources and, undoubtedly, make the roads a safer place for all.
