Braai has come and gone and hopefully, your meat feast was an enjoyable one.
I don’t know about you, maar vir nou is ek uitgevleis.
Since the start of September, I have either had my own braai or have been invited to one every weekend.
No wonder I’ve been struggling to get my summer body into shape.
Luckily it’s early days and there is still time to get rid of these vetrolletjies.
Next Tuesday, 1 October, is World Vegetarian Day and also the start of vegetarian month.
Of course, it doesn’t mean you have to ditch the vleis and only live of greens (although, some might say that’s not a bad idea), but there are ways to incorporate veggies into your favourite meaty dishes.
It’s a good time to try new and healthier ways of eating if, like me, you haven’t been doing so well.
Coincidentally on Sunday, my four-year-old suddenly decided that she doesn’t like meat anymore.
I know better than to think that this will last longer than a few days, so I’m calling her bluff and I’ve been on the hunt for lekker veggie recipes.
The Cooking from the Heart recipe book doesn’t just have the best braai recipes, but also really lekker veggie dishes.
I don’t eat sweet potato, but I can’t wait to try their Jacket Sweet Potatoes with Cottage Cheese.
What’s best is that the dishes can be enjoyed on its own or as sides to your meaty dish.
