Two days into Spring and the idea of renovating my house is back on the agenda.
This is, after all, a time of renewal and rejuvenation.
But as I’ve said before, it’s an enormous task and - depending on what you want to do - can be massively expensive.
I have spent the past few months researching everything from engineering costs, to council approvals, material options, and labour costs.
Every single person I’ve spoken to, has warned me about the headaches that come with building and how builders have an overall bad reputation.
But I am determined to do this, so I have done some more research at last weekend’s Homemakers’ Expo.
I think research together with a willingness to learn and doing a lot of it myself, is what’s going to help me realise this dream of mine.
At the same time, I am hoping to bust some myths associated with home improvement, most importantly that it’s difficult and expensive.
I think the DIY part is what’s going to save me the most, and some stubborn determination mixed with a little bit of crazy!
I also hope to encourage you to investigate making those dream improvements to your own home for a lot less than what you were led to believe.
So watch this space!
