An alleged skollie was gunned down in cold blood in a Mitchells Plain government clinic in front of his young child and girlfriend.
It’s believed the brazen gunman arrived at the Eastridge Clinic on a scooter and walked up to a young father who was at the facility with his girlfriend and their one-year-old daughter.
The victim was only identified as 23-year-old “Lesley Junior Bos”, who was allegedly a member of the 28s gang.
Witnesses say shortly before 11am on Monday, while Junior sat with his girlfriend, who had their daughter on her lap, a gunman wearing a motorcylce helmet calmly walked up to him and shot him four times.
A photo of Junior lying in a pool of his own blood went viral on Facebook on Monday.
He is the ninth person to be gunned down in Mitchells Plain in the past seven days.
Shocked relatives, including Junior’s ouma, wept uncontrollably at the scene.
The family did not want to speak. His child and traumatised girlfriend, who was in tears, was led out of the clinic by detectives and placed into a vehicle.
A woman outside said: “My sister was inside the clinic and she said this person just walked straight up to him (Junior) and shot him four times. The girlfriend was there with their baby.”
The City of Cape Town runs the facility and Mayco Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, confirmed the incident and said the clinic was closed.
“The client attended the clinic when an unknown person/s entered the facility and shot him,” said Smith.
“The clinic is closed until further notice and clients were advised to attend facilities in neighbouring areas, while the Mitchells Plain Community Health Centre was contacted to manage all sick children.
“The City debriefed staff immediately after the incident. This will be followed by trauma counselling and support to staff members.”
A police source claims Junior was a member of the 28s gang: “He was ’* ag, an outlaw’.”
Police spokesman Lieut-Col. Andre Traut says cops have yet to make an arrest: “Circumstances surrounding the death of a 23-year-old man are being investigated after he was shot and killed by an unknown suspect (Monday) at 10:45am. The suspect fled the scene and he is yet to be arrested.”
It is still unclear how the gunman got inside the facility with a firearm.
There are security guards on duty as well as a metal detector.
