A Hanover Park couple were gunned down by a group of skollies while walking home on Monday.
Shortly before 1pm several gunshots rang out in Hanover Park Avenue when the couple were approached by three members of the Pitbulls gang.
According to a source at the scene, the husband, 27, was shot in the head, chest and neck while his 29-year-old wife was shot in the right leg.
“The residents surrounded them immediately and tried to help. He was shot several times and the bullet went straight through her right leg,” the source says.
“The people say he is an innocent man and not a skollie. His wife stayed with him the whole time and spoke to him to keep him awake.”
The source says the couple were shot in front of a New Apostolic church, but at this stage the motive for the shooting is unknown.
“Initial information says three Pitbulls from Blinkwater came and shot him, but we don’t know why yet. They were both taken away to hospital.”
Police found five cartridges on the scene.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, confirms the shooting and says: “Be advised that an attempted murder case has been opened for investigation following the shooting incident. Two victims, aged 27 and 29, man and female respectively, were shot and wounded. Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation with no arrests as yet.”
