The trial against alleged drug kingpin Fadwaan “Vet” Murphy will only continue in April due to the lockdown.
Murphy, his ex-wife Shafieka Murphy and his co-accused Dominique Davidson and Leon Paulsen, are facing 229 charges relating to racketeering, money laundering and other charges relating to the POCA (Prevention of Organised Crime Act).
The four made a brief appearance at the Cape High Court yesterday where they heard their trial would only resume on 20 April, following the 21-day lockdown.
In December 2019, Murphy’s sister Glenda Murphy passed away due to pancreatic cancer while her lawyer, Advocate Vernon Jantjies, was shot and killed in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain.

The statements of two drug runners, who may not be identified after they became State witnesses, were also allowed.
The statements include evidence that Murphy had allegedly paid them via his business account
In February, Murphy’s wife, Aneeka Murphy was also busted along with alleged henchman, Heinrich Olyne.
This after they were found with six firearms including a police issue revolver which had not been reported missing in their car in Lentegeur.
