An armed response officer is lucky to be alive after
ruthless skelms stole his
firearm and shot him five times.
He managed to escape despite being wounded and caused a stir in Eerste River on Monday night when he arrived bleeding at a relative’s home.
Police spokesperson, Mihlali Majikela, says at about 4.15pm, the officer came under attack on the corner of Govan Mbeki and Sheffield Road while driving through the area.
“According to reports, the victim was shot by unknown suspects at the aforementioned address and was later transported to a
medical facility for treatment,” he says.
“The victim’s work firearm was also taken during the incident.
“The circumstances surrounding this incident are being investigated and no arrests have been made at this stage.”
A representative of National Security and Fire, the company which the guard works for, says the 30-year-old man was on duty at the time of the shooting.

“He was on duty and was passing through Philippi when he was shot while standing at a robot.
“Five shots were fired at him as we found four projectiles in his bulletproof vest and one bullet had entered an exposed area.
“He went into surgery on Monday and is currently conscious and in a stable condition and we can confirm that he drove to a relative’s home after the incident and we arranged for paramedics to take him to hospital.”
When Daily Voice visited his home yesterday, his family declined to comment.
