The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has adjusted the 2023 school calendar to align the end of the final term with President Cyril Ramaphosa’s special Springbok holiday announcement last month.
This means that learners will officially be on holiday as of 12 December, and teachers on 14 December.
Schools were initially supposed to close on 15 December, but Ramaphosa declared it a public holiday after South Africa won the Rugby World Cup last month.
