This is a sight to make a grown petrolkop cry.
A lekker cruise on Somerset Road in Green Point on a sunny Saturday afternoon turned into a nightmare for the driver of this red Ferrari 488 GTB that clipped a bakkie and ended up wrecked in flower bushes on the pavement.
In a 13-second video of the incident, made at about 12pm, a white Toyota Corolla is seen making a U-turn on Somerset Road, and a white Chevrolet bakkie follows suit.
The sports car, which is valued at over R4 million, is seen coming on at a speed and rams into the passenger side of the bakkie.
The Ferrari veers off the road, skips over the kerb and ends up literally pushing up daisies.
Wrecked or not, bystanders gathered round the Ferrari, whose right fender and headlight were damaged.
And they still took the time to pose for selfies in front of the red cabbie, and take a peek under the bonnet.
The City of Cape Town’s Traffic Department spokesperson, Maxine Bezuidenhout, confirmed the crash.
“It is alleged the driver of a Chevrolet light-duty vehicle made a U-turn in front of the Ferrari driver causing the accident. There were no injuries,” she said.
Footage of the accident soon went viral on social media, with users speculating that the “Michael Schumacher” had done a hit and run.
However Bezuidenhout said: “The driver did not abandon his vehicle.”
It is not known to whom the Ferrari belongs.
