Hanover Park residents were left reeling in shock on Sunday when two innocent men were killed in a hail of bullets in Donegal Court.
Hartseer residents say they could not believe their eyes when the bullet ridden bodies of Dawood Morris, 18, and Nishaar Kensley, 32, were found just metres apart in Donegal Court.
Dawood’s aunt, Martha Daniels, 55, says they were woken up by the sound of gunshots shortly before 5am and ran outside to investigate what had happened.
“He was in the court with his friends when the shooting happened,” she says.
“His mother died recently and he was living by me.
“The gunshots woke us up and when we went out we found he was shot five times in the head and the other guy was shot nine times.
“We were told that four guys came to the court carrying a kis asking where they can buy beers and when Dawood wanted to show them they just started shooting.
“Both of them are innocent and died there in the court. They haven’t shot in Donegal Court for a long time and they just pick anyone as a target,” says Daniels.
The Daily Voice visited Nishaar’s home, but his family were unavailable to speak as they were making preparations for his janaazah.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana confirms the incident and says police are now investigating a double murder.
“According to information unidentified suspects shot and fatally wounded the victims. The circumstances surrounding this incident are being investigated by the police with no arrests yet.”
