The man accused of raping and murdering six-year-old Stacey Adams came to court on Friday with his arm in a sling.
Christopher Brown, 25, appeared at the Western Cape High Court for pre-trial proceedings.
It was revealed by his defence lawyer that he injured his arm during a game of soccer at Pollsmoor Prison where he is being kept.
The court also heard that Brown had not consulted with his lawyer yet over the finer details of his defence.
The State then indicated that they were also not ready to proceed as the prosecutor had to be present in another case.
The matter was postponed to May 3.
CASE POSTPONED: Suspect Christopher Brown
Brown ditched his bail application in August at the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court where his list of previous offences was placed on record.
They include murder, two assault charges, one assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and the illegal possession of a firearm.
On June 24, Stacey’s half-naked body was found buried in a shallow grave next to Brown’s Wendy house in De La Rey Street in Eastridge.
Brown and Stacey’s mother, Sasha-Lee, lived together while Stacey lived with her granny just across the road.
Sasha-Lee was not at home, and Brown allegedly confessed that he was angry with the mother for going to a party on that Friday night and that he took his anger out on Stacey when she came looking for her mom on Saturday morning.
He allegedly confessed to trying to sodomise the child’s dead body but was not able to.
