The man accused of raping and murdering six-year-old Stacey Adams is expected to enter into a possible plea and sentencing agreement on Wednesday.
The Daily Voice can also reveal that Christopher Brown has been charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend who was found strangled to death and hidden under a bed in 2015.
Brown, 25, appeared at the Western Cape High Court on Friday where pre-trial proceedings were discussed.
State prosecutors said they have been in talks with Brown’s legal team and were busy finalising an agreement.
It was then revealed that Brown would be entering into a possible plea and sentencing agreement for a list of charges, which include the two murders.
Brown, who had shaved off all his hair, listened attentively to proceedings.
Stacey’s ouma, Laeeqah Adams, 42, her mother, Sasha-Lee Adams, 24, were also in court.
The matter was postponed to 22 May for legal teams to finalise the possible plea agreement.
Brown’s list of previous offences were placed on record last year at the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court, which includes murder, two assaults, one assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm and one for the illegal possession of a firearm.
Brown has since been charged for the murder of his former girlfriend, Thuliswa Lavisa, whose body was found under her bed in Harare in September 2015.
Brown allegedly choked her to death and hid her body.
SUSPECT IN GIRLFRIEND’S DEATH: Christopher Brown, 25
Brown was previously arrested for this case, but was let go due to a lack of evidence.
On Sunday, 24 June 2018, Stacey’s half-naked body was found buried in a shallow grave next to Brown’s Wendy house in De La Rey Street in Eastridge.
Brown and Stacey’s mother had lived together, while Stacey lived with her granny opposite the road.
Brown allegedly confessed that he was angry at Sasha-Lee for going to a party on the Friday night and staying out, and that he took his anger out on Stacey when she came looking for her mom the Saturday morning.
He allegedly confessed to trying to sodomise the child’s dead body, but was unable to.
On the day of Brown’s arrest, community members tried to burn down his Wendy house and the main house, which belongs to his aunt.
The family has since been moved to a town outside Cape Town.
Outside court on Friday, Laeeqah told the Daily Voice that while they are happy the case is moving along, they would only have closure once Brown is jailed.
“We are a bit relieved, but we will see what happens when he receives a straf before we can find closure.”
