Police say a shebeen queen and her drug dealing berk were nabbed on Monday by wakker cops who caught them with a large stash of liquor and drugs.
The couple were caught by cops from Grassy Park Police Station who first caught the boyfriend red-handed selling a packet of tik through his gate.
Station commander, Colonel Dawood Laing, says the officers were patrolling Tody Street shortly after 8am following tip-offs that the boyfriend was selling drugs.
“When they passed in the vehicle, they saw him selling and he thought he got away because they drove away,” says Laing.
“But he did not realise they parked the police vehicle down the road and returned on foot and saw him selling another packet of tik through the gate and pounced on him.
“While they searched him, they found 91 packets of tik, eight half Mandrax tablets and R270 cash.”
Laing says when cops entered the house, they saw bags in the hallway and on closer inspection found it was filled with do p.
“It was those blue council bags used to collect dirt and it raised the suspicion of officers,” he says.
“When they opened it, they found it was full of dop.
“Officers found various beers and strong wine and it was established that the 29-year-old woman was selling liquor without a licence from the property.”
The duo were arrested and while the woman paid a R500 fine and was released, it was established that her berk is also a member of the Six Bobs gang.
Laing says he will soon appear in court on drug dealing charges.
