A 69-year-old ouma from Bonteheuwel says she got a skrik on Sunday when several cops stormed into her home, accusing her of selling drugs.
Aziza Eli, who lives in Bonteheuwel Avenue, says officers from Bishop Lavis SAPS turned her home upside down looking for drugs and a gun.
The ouma says she started crying and shivering as officers raided her personal possessions, smashing her cupboards.
“I was humiliated and very hurt. I am old. What must I do with drugs? I told them to open the fridge and see I barely have food.
“I would live a better life if I was keeping or selling drugs. I have never been a criminal and I do not sell any kind of drugs,” the granny tells the Daily Voice.
HELSE SKRIK: Aziza Eli, 69
“My son, Toufeeq, is on tik. He has been on it for many years and he has been shot at and stabbed. He is my son, but I will never allow him to come into my house with his stuff.
“The police said they came on a tip-off and they can do their jobs, but harassing me and breaking my stuff is not right. The information they got is false and they need to check out those people. I want them to come and repair my cupboards and broken things.”
Captain FC van Wyk says Bishop Lavis police were responding to “reliable intelligence” received about a suspicious character entering a house in Bonteheuwel Avenue on Sunday.
“They went through the house and found no illegal substances. No one was arrested during the search.
“The homeowner is encouraged to report any damage to her property during said search to police immediately.”
