A Mitchells Plain family is urging motorists to be careful when travelling along the R300 after their son survived an attack on the highway on Monday evening.
The 29-year-old father of two, who asked not to be named, was hospitalised after a brick was hurled at his windscreen causing the glass to shatter all over the young dad from Colorado Park.
His 52-year-old father says they got a skrik when he came home bleeding and in shock.
“He had dropped some workers off in Delft and was on his way home,” says the father.
“He says at about 7.30pm just after the Stock Road turn-off while travelling towards Jakes Gerwel Drive, he saw two black males on the left hand side of the road.

“He saw the one taking aim and a brick came straight through the windscreen and hit the driver’s side window.
“He tried to evade them, but the brick hit the car. Luckily he was smart enough to drive on and not stop there.”
The father says his son drove straight home and didn’t go to a police station.
“We took him to hospital where they had to remove pieces of glass from his hand. He was discharged, but is still in pain.
“We called it into the Metro Police control room to alert them about the attack.
“It could have been fatal and throwing bricks is probably their modus operandi to try and get motorists to stop.
“That area is very dark and you can’t really see what is happening. We just want to warn other motorists so they can be cautious,” says the oupa.
