A group of members from the Kraaifontein Development Forum has taken it upon themselves to go door to door in Bloekombos to enquire whether people had anything to eat.
Following their “survey” they then approached sponsors and over the weekend delivered 50 boxes of food.
Forum secretary Zukile Dyamiyi thanked all the businesses for sponsoring their Lunch Box project.

He says many people are suffering due to the Coronavirus lockdown, which has seen them lose their jobs, or unable to look for work.
“Our team went door to door to see where the need is the direst,” he explains.
“We then went to go ask various sponsors for help because this was not a “one man” job, many people were going to bed on empty stomachs, we found.”
“We made up the hampers ourselves at the Bloekombos creché because we needed the space.
“We handed out the hampers on Friday in Bloekombos.”
READY: 50 boxes of food to be delivered
The boxes each contained two toilet rolls, sugar, cooking oil, soup ingredients and more.
“There is everything a mother would need to feed her kids a few meals,” says Zukile.
“We also took the boxes to the families on our list ourselves because we didn’t want people to come to the creché and cause chaos.
“Our Lunch Box project might be small, but this is not the last you’ll see of us in these troubled times,” he adds.
