“Let me have my son.”
These are the words of a Cape Flats dad as he pleaded with hijackers to hand over his six-year-old son while being held at gunpoint.
The 39-year-old dad from Pinati Estate was held up in his drive-way by three gangsters on Sunday, but the Hanover Park skollies met their match when they were nabbed by wakker cops just 20 minutes after the hijacking.
The father, who asked not to be named, says he was fixing his car while his son sat in the driver’s seat.
“He wanted to help me with the car and then they came. They took out a gun and I told them just to let me have my son and take the car. They left and my wife phoned Lansdowne police.”

Grassy Park Station commander, Colonel Dawood Laing, says within minutes, officers patrolling Strandfontein Road spotted the silver Kia Cerato and chased the suspects.
“The hijacking came in over the radio at 4.55pm and by 5.15pm, two of the three suspects were in custody,” says the top cop.
“They drove past the officers, who tried to pull them over, but they did not stop so a high-speed chase ensued through the streets of Grassy Park.”
Laing says the dom skelms tried to dodge cops but drove into a cul de sac and were trapped.
“They even pointed their gas gun at the officers, who fired two shots, but nobody was hurt,” he says.
“They reversed and hit the police vehicle, and officers apprehended two suspects while the third skollie ran into the Phumlani Informal Settlement.”
SEIZED: The skelms tried to intimidate cops with a gas gun.
At the police station, the skollies then pretended to be members of the Junky Funkys gang but Laing says he recognised them.
“They tried to flous the officers, saying they are Funkys, but when I saw their pictures, I told them they are lying. They are Ghetto Kidz from Hanover Park.
“I know their faces because I worked in Hanover Park for many years.
“The two suspects, aged 24 and 26, will appear in Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
“This is a warning to all gangsters from other precincts, they musn’t come with their nonsense to Grassy Park.
“They have been marked and we will deal with them like we deal with the skollies here.”
