A skelme couple appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Monday after they allegedly hijacked a man in Wynberg and hid his VW Polo in Grassy Park.
Grassy Park SAPS commander, Colonel Dawood Laing, says the couple was arrested just hours after the hijacking and found in possession of the motorist’s cellphone and bank cards.
“The victim is from Diep River, but apparently he knew the woman and went to meet her in Millbank Road, Wynberg on Friday at about 3.30pm.
“According to him she got in the Polo and, despite the air conditioner being on, she still opened the windows and then two coloured males appeared.
“They held him at knifepoint and forced him out of the driver’s seat.”
Laing says the trio drove around with their victim and dropped him along the R300 highway.
“He opened a case at Wynberg SAPS, but because he knew the woman was from Grassy Park he came to us and gave us a description.
“Later on the same night officers if the Crime Prevention Unit spotted the couple and arrested them.
“They found the car keys on the man and the cellphone and bank cards in the woman’s bra,” the colonel says.
CASE: Col. Dawood Laing.
He says during interrogation the woman broke down and told cops where to find the car and it was recovered.
“The location of the third suspect is unknown, but the 27-year-old female and 34-year-old man appeared on hijacking and possession of stolen goods charges,” says Laing.
