A devastated father says his three-year-old daughter was enjoying a bowl of noodles in their Belhar home when she was shot in the neck.
Little Andrea Jordaan was rushed to the nearest clinic but sadly when her family arrived, they were informed that she had passed on.
Two others were injured during the senseless shooting in Rustenburg Avenue on Tuesday evening.
Grieving dad André Jordaan, 35, says his daughter was having dinner when three men opened fire on his home.
“I was at work when my wife called me and told me that there was a shooting and that my daughter had been hit,” he says.
“I went to the clinic as soon as I could but I got there too late, she was already gone.
“I couldn’t even see where the wound was because her head was bent to the front.”
The father says they had to wait for the forensic officials to fetch her body at the clinic.
“They came and took her body, at the same time the police were busy collecting bullet casings at home.”
The dad of three tells the Daily Voice the skollies stood in front of his home and started shooting indiscriminately.
“My friend was busy feeding my daughter, she was standing in front of him and then they shot her in the neck and hit him in the leg.
“Another bullet hit a seven-year-old boy who was playing inside the yard.”
He says the three suspects ran away on foot after the shooting.
André couldn’t even find the words to describe his child, saying she was loved by all.
“She was everyone’s child, always happy, she was just a beautiful little girl.
“This is really heartbreaking because this is my second child that I’ve lost.
“My son would have been five years old now, he died of natural causes when he was only a year-old, and now I have to go through this pain again.”
Local councillor Delmaine Cotte is calling on the police to take swift action.
“This has happened too many times and children are mostly affected by these shootings,” Cotte says.
“Three other people were shot 30 minutes apart from this shooting.
“We call on the police to arrest and the courts to keep the suspects locked up until conviction.”
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed the shooting and says no one has been arrested yet: “Belhar police are investigating a murder and two attempted murder cases.”
