Skelms using fake guns to rob people in Morgen’s Village is becoming a worrying trend, say crime-fighters.
In less than three months, four people have been arrested for being in possession of imitation firearms in Morgen’s Village, near the Westgate Mall, in Mitchells Plain.
On Wednesday, cops were called to Sunset Road, where they found a man trying to sell a phoney gun to the public, but he was quickly caught by Morgen’s Village Community Watch and cops.

Images of the man’s arrest went viral on crime groups.
Cops bagged the fake firearm as evidence and pinned him to the ground during the arrest.
Yesterday, Nawaaz Lamb, of the Morgen’s Village Neighbourhood Watch, told the Daily Voice robberies were being carried out by suspects armed with fake weapons.
“We have caught several people with imitation firearms and they are using these fake guns to rob people in the community,” he says.
“We have had more than three incidents in the past
12 weeks and I have personally been part of these confiscations.
“We want to warn people to be vigilant when travelling to work during the early hours of the morning and at night.
“Many reside in the area and others in New Woodlands.

“We are also experiencing an increase in drug dealing in our community.”
Police spokesperson Siyabulela Malo was unable to confirm the incidents.
