The Cape Peninsula University of Technology was closed yesterday due to violence.
CPUT’s Lauren Kansely indicated on Sunday that the facility would resume operations on Monday following violent protests on Friday, but said a decision was made late on Sunday night to keep doors closed.
“Staff have been asked to report for duty on Tuesday,” she said.
“This follows a weekend of engagement between executive management and student leaders to bring an end to protest action which ground operations to a halt last week.”
Protesting students say CPUT was increasing fees without consulting the SRC.
They also demand more accommodation, NSFAS allowances and insourcing of shuttles.
