Two hijackers who stole a Shoprite truck filled with goods were stopped in their tracks by a brave dog yesterday.
Police and members of the TSU Protection Services are being lauded after the lorry, which was hijacked in Kraaifontein, was recovered within hours in Kasselsvlei Road, Bellville South.
According to a witness at the scene, TSU protection services chased down the truck and the four suspects managed to flee.
However, two of the suspects were quickly apprehended by TSU’s K-9, a Rottweiler.
They were too slow as the kwaai brakkie dragged them back to his handler, who arrested them.

Operating Manager for TSU, Corne Vermeulen, says the operation was a joint
collaboration between TSU and SAPS.
“I can confirm a hijacked vehicle was tracked and SAPS was assisted by two of our teams, our K9 and Tactical Response Units.
“This was a great operation as they managed to retrieve the truck, get back the stock stolen and make arrests,”
Vermeulen said.
Shoprite’s media team
confirmed the incident in a statement and said the truck was headed out of Cape Town when it was hijacked.
“We can confirm that one of our fleet trucks was hijacked on the N1 heading out from Cape Town [yesterday] morning, before being retrieved again later in the day.
“We are grateful that no one was seriously injured and are assisting the police who are currently investigating,” Shoprite said.
