Two skelms who robbed a young woman in Kraaifontein were caught by wakker taxi drivers.
The robbers were saved from the angry mob, who were busy moering them, by police when they arrived on the scene.
The two had taken the young woman’s cellphone and cash near the Wallacedene taxi rank on Monday and ran off.
The shocked young woman screamed for help and nearby taxi drivers responded immediately, chasing the diewe on foot.
A taxi driver, who asked to remain anonymous, says they’re gatvol of skollies robbing mense of their hard-earned possessions.

“The two tsotsis robbed a girl and fled in the direction of Bloekombos. It took just an instant when all the guys decided we’re going to catch those skurke when the girl shouted she was robbed,” he explains.
“They were not as smooth as they thought and they didn’t stand a chance when they were caught.”
He says angry people started moering the skelms because the area has become a hotspot for robberies.
“When they were caught, people came from all over to hit them, fists were flying. Their T-shirts were ripped from their bodies,” the driver says.
“If the police hadn’t shown up, they would have been bundu court vleis.”
One robber lost his shoes, while the other had no pants on and was wearing only an onderbroek and green socks, and had a bloody mouth.
“Police said they will first be taking the robbers to the hospital so they can be treated for their injuries, and then they will be arrested,” the driver added.
“We believe this will make potential robbers think twice.”

Police spokesman, Captain FC van Wyk, says neither the theft victim nor the alleged skelms wanted to open cases.
“Our members were busy with routine patrols in Maroela Street, Wallacedene when they encountered a group of community members with alleged perpetrators of crime.
“The victim of the alleged theft did not want to open a case since she recovered her property and money.
“The two victims of the alleged community attack also did not want to open a case of assault.”
