The mother of a 12-year-old boy from Kewtown is calling on mense to help her son get to the Kuala Lumpur Invitational Cup taking place later this month in Malaysia.
Robin February has been playing club soccer since he was a toddler and now plays for Athlone North Primary School as a right-back.
His mother, Natalie, has been trying for months to raise the money by selling food and snacks and also hosted a fundraiser for him on 2 November.
Sadly, the turnout was not great and she says they are still far from their R31 800 target.
She has managed to raise just over R5000 and is now calling on the Cape Flats to assist her.
“Robin has been such a great child and we are not wealthy people,” says the mom.
“We were very excited to hear he was chosen for this trip, but unfortunately we just don’t have the money to send him.”

The team that will represent South Africa at the international tournament includes boys from across the country.
They will depart on 29 November and are set to return on 14 December.
Robin, who is in Grade 6, is an avid soccer player with dreams of playing for Bafana Bafana one day.

“I want to be the best player in the world. I’m asking people to help me realise this dream that could mean the beginning of the career I want to follow,” he says.
“I promise to make everyone proud.”
