Wesbank residents were shocked to find the body of an 18-year-old boy who was stabbed to death in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The body was discovered by residents lying at the end of Silversands Main Road at the entrance of the footbridge that stretches over the R300 at 6am.
When the Daily Voice visited the scene on Sunday, residents showed where the victim lived but nobody was home.
A 42-year-old man said: “I do not know his name but I know his brother.
“I also know that he was not a gangster and was just a laaitie here in the area.
“On Saturday night, he was standing here by the shop and talking to the children, so past 8pm side, and then this morning we found him dead here in the road.
“It looks like he was robbed because his takkies and headphones were gone.
“I don’t know if they took his phone but he sieka had it on him, the blood was still wet when we found him so at 6.30am.”
According to the resident, the victim was stabbed and cut with a knife and the wound stretched across his bors.
“It looked like the bra who stabbed him dragged the knife right across his chest because he was lying open here on the field.”
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the incident took place while no arrests have been made.
“Mfuleni police were called to the scene where they found the victim with a stab wound to the chest,” he said.
