Police are investigating the death of a young man who was found beaten to death with a concrete slab and stabbed in the head.
The body of the man, believed to be from Bishop Lavis, was discovered at a residence in Borriehout Street, Bonteheuwel, at 8am on Monday.
Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk says the matter is being investigated and no arrest has been made yet.
“Circumstances surrounding the death of an unknown man whose body was found at 8am at a premises in Borriehout Street in Bonteheuwel is under investigation.Crime scene experts are combing the area for clues. A murder case was registered for investigation,” Van Wyk says.
Ward councillor Angus McKenzie confirms the body was found in the backyard of the residence and says residents have become shell-shocked at the number of murders committed in the suburb this year.
According to McKenzie, more than 40 people have been murdered in Bonteheuwel this year.
Last week Sharief Cader, 34, was shot in the head while walking along Loganberry Street.
The man was well known, having sold ice-cream and cheese in the area for a time.
Just over a week ago, Candice Williams, 35, was shot a number of times while her girlfriend, Tasliema Galant, 31, is in a critical condition in hospital after she was shot three times in the chest.
The couple were attacked in their home in Kiaat Road, Bonteheuwel.
