Stormers captain Siya Kolisi has been ruled out of Saturday’s Super Rugby derby against the Sharks at Newlands (5.15pm).
The Springbok leader will miss the final match of the season because of illness, with Pieter-Steph du Toit, who led the Boks in their first match of the year against Wales in the US, taking over the captaincy.
Kolisi’s place on the side of the scrum will be taken by Kobus van Dyk as coach Robbie Fleck made five changes from the team that lost 25-14 to the Jaguares in Argentina last weekend.
Other changes see prop JC Janse van Rensburg, who will play in his final match for the franchise before moving abroad, come in for Steven Kitshoff, while Frans Malherbe will pack down at tighthead prop in place of Wilco Louw.
In the backline, EW Viljoen also earns a start at outside centre, with JJ Engelbrecht moving to the wing in place of Craig Barry, who will play off the bench.
Scrumhalf Herschel Jantjies is also in line to make his Super Rugby debut off the bench,
coming in for Justin Phillips.
Another youngster that will look for some game time is No.8 Juarno Augustus, who will play off the wood alongside Joshua Stander.
Of the encounter, coach Fleck says: “This weekend gives us another chance to play in front of our fans at Newlands, so we are determined to put together a good performance.
“South African derbies are always tough and this should be a great game to watch, we are
looking forward to the challenge.
