Jose Mourinho could be out of a job by this time next week and Manchester United players and staff are talking openly about it, according to the UK’s Daily Mail.
The Special One has overseen the Red Devils’ worst start to a Premier League campaign in 26 years.
After a narrow 2-1 opening-day win over Leicester, United have lost to Brighton and Tottenham.
And defeat at Burnley on Sunday will be the final nail in Jose’s tenure at Old Trafford, despite the club seemingly publicly backing the Portuguese.
Sources inside the club claim there is the same sense of inevitability that surrounded Louis van Gaal’s final days in 2016 before he was replaced by Mourinho, with players now talking about the possibility of Zinedine Zidane becoming manager.
Sportsmail quotes an insider saying: “They are saying Jose will be gone soon.
“Some think he’ll be out if they lose at Burnley. Others can’t see him lasting beyond September.
‘We’ve seen this before and it just feels the same. The club will say it’s supporting Jose but we all saw what happened with Louis.
“The players are already talking about the possibility of Zidane coming in.”
Mourinho is short of support in the dressing room too, with the "Miserable One" having bad blood with a host of club stars, including Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly over the past 18 months.
