If the Stormers want to make the Super Rugby playoffs this year, they have to start winning away from home.
In the 2019 season, the Capetonians won only two of their eight matches on the road and finished dead last in the South African Conference despite five matches on their home ground at Newlands.
And It's that inability to win away from the Mother City that has cost the Stormers big time in years gone by.
But after starting the season on a big high, beating the Hurricanes 27-0 and then the Bulls 13-0 at Newlands,
hooker Scarra Ntubeni knows they have to hit the road running if they want to have a say in the knockouts this year.
ON A MISSION: Scarra Ntubeni of the Stormers
On the menu is a trip to Ellis Park on Saturday where they were taught a rugby lesson by hosts the Lions last time out, losing that match 41-22.
Ahead of Saturday’s clash, Ntubeni says: “For us [winning over there] is a big motivating factor. Even after training and before training [this week] we say we’re going to do everything this week to win at Ellis Park - whether it’s not having that beer on a Tuesday or [not] sleeping in, we said this is our game.
“We said at the beginning of the season that we want to win at home, but if we want to make the playoffs we must win games away from home as well.
“This is the game that we’ve targeted now for two weeks - we really want to go to Ellis Park and come back with the victory.”
