Benni McCarthy will keep his Cape Town City team in Cup mode as they head to Free State Stars for a PSL clash on Wednesday night (7.30pm).
City edged PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg of their MTN8 semifinal on Saturday.
And boss Benni hopes his manne stay in the same mindset for the league clash as they look to keep pace with leaders.
Hoping to make up ground, City need a win to boost their four-point tally with the likes of Bloem Celtic and Wits already on nine.
The Bafana Bafana legend says: “Coming off a high (the win over Sundowns) we will treat Stars as another Cup final.
“The three points on offer is our bread and butter.
"We have to make sure that we stay in touch with the high-fliers in the PSL, like Bloem Celtic and Wits.”
City’s defence have been watertight this term, conceding just two goals.
But Benni has hinted he will rotate his squad after the trip to Bethlehem with the frontline needing to start firing.
He adds: "I will freshen the team up and make some changes; not too many changes, though, because I don’t want to disrupt the continuity of the team. When you play Free State Stars away, you have to go through the ugly travel.
“It’s not pleasant. We have to fly to Johannesburg and then a five-hour bus trip to get to Bethlehem. It’s probably the main reason why not many Cape teams win at Free State Stars.”
