Western Province are one win away from securing a home semifinal in this year’s Currie Cup.
As it stands, though, their match against the Sharks at Newlands on Saturday is scheduled to be the last at the stadium before the union switches to Cape Town Stadium.
Having beaten the Cheetahs 31-29 thanks to a late penalty conversion by flyhalf Tim Swiel, coach John Dobson’s team is now in second place on the log and in a position to host a semifinal.
But the Sharks are just two points behind them in fourth and will travel to the Mother City knowing they can also book a home semi.
Dobson, however, says: “The first thing was getting to the semi-finals and we’ve got that done.
“And now we just have to determine the venue.
“It’s a good reflection of the work the players have put in that we’re in a position to determine the venue with next week’s game – it’s not like we just scraped through in fourth.
“We’re really looking forward to that game – playing at Newlands.
“It’s quite powerful. The Cheetahs have their own motivational factors. Ours is to make sure that next Saturday is not the last match at Newlands.
“You’re going to find us respond well to that.”
