Cape Town City midfield dynamo Thabo Nodada has been called up to the Bafana Bafana squad for their two upcoming Afcon 2019 qualifiers.
And the 1.63m tall, 23-year-old will be boosted for newly-crowned MTN8 champions City’s PSL test against Wits at Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday night (7.30pm).
Nodada has been a constant presence in Benni McCarthy’s team, scoring the winning penalty in their MTN8 final shootout win on Saturday.
Bafana boss Stuart Baxter will be hoping Nodada continues his form with clashes against Seychelles (October 13 in Joburg and October 16 in Victoria).
Baxter, meanwhile, had to defend his inclusion of striker Dino Ndlovu, who plays his football in the Chinese second division where he has 18 goals this season.
Of Ndlovu, who has not scored in his previous five international appearances, Baxter says: “I think that if Dino plays he will believe that he will score.
“I don’t know how many other strikers available to us believes that they will score.
“It’s doesn’t matter whether it’s in the first or 10th division, he is scoring goals regularly. I’ve seen some of the goals he’s scored and they are good goals.”
