After missing out on the Premier League title, veteran James Milner has called on his Liverpool teammates to earn redemption in the Champions League final.
The Reds finished on 97 log points - a total only beaten by Manchester City last season and again by Pep Guardiola’s squad by a single point this term.
For Milner and his pals, it would be an injustice if they were to end such a promising season empty-handed.
After their heroic Champions League semifinal comeback win over Barcelona last week, they know they have to up their game once again when they face Premier League rivals Tottenham in Madrid on 1 June.
The utility player says: “When you think of 30 wins out of 38, at the start of the season you’d like to think that’s good enough.

“But obviously that shows how good Man City are as well. It’s disappointing.
“We have to be proud of what we’ve achieved.
“Unfortunately it’s just short, but obviously what we did [against Barcelona] gives us a chance to go and redeem ourselves and get a piece of silverware because I think everyone deserves a bit of silverware.
“I think the team, especially these boys, know how to grind out results.
“What we’ve been through in the last two weeks from Barcelona away, putting on a pretty good performance and losing like we did… and then bounce back again – I haven’t got enough good words to say about the character within the squad, the ability and the mentality.”
