Benni McCarthy and Cape Town City get back to PSL action on Tuesday night when they travel to Polokwane City (7.30 pm).
The Citizens are set to play for the first time since winning two games in a row before the international break.
And McCarthy hopes his manne pick up where they left off.
The Bafana Bafana legend says: “You still have to go out there for 90 minutes and work harder than your opponent.
“We did that in phases in the last game, but not as much as I would have liked to.
“We had our little slump against all the top teams, and now the middle class and lower end is all coming at once for us.
“So, we want to prove that we are not a miracle team or a one-hit wonder, or that the MTN8 was a fluke or a lucky strike.”
With Polokwane a log place above them and five points ahead of the Citizens having played one game more, it’s chance for City to reel them in ahead of games against Highlands Park, Chippa United and Celtic next month.
He adds: “This is the run that we need to prove that we can brush teams below us aside because we should be closer to the top, and that’s the main aim.”
Having had a good break, midfielder Thabo Nodada adds on IOL:“We have had enough time to prepare for them, and I’m sure we will be ready to take all three points on Tuesday night.”
