In what was only their second win of the Absa Premiership season, Cape Town City ushered in the post-Benni McCarthy era with a dashing 5-3 win over Polokwane City 5-3 at Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday night.
After McCarthy was shown the exit door the reins were handed over to caretaker coach Vasili Manousakis who made several changes to the team for Wednesday's clash.
The result was that City picked up only their second league win of the season. It was their first since August [a 1-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC on 10 August]. The win snapped a seven-match winless run in the PSL. They moved up two rungs to 11th spot on the log as a result.

After taking a 3-1 halftime lead, City held a commanding 5-1 lead in the second half.
However, a late flurry saw Polokwane score twice in the final five minutes but by that time it was a case of too little too late.
