Liverpool have to watch their backs if they want to end their 28-year Premier League title drought this season.
Sitting comfortably at the top of the log, with second-placed Tottenham six points behind them, coach Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are still unbeaten in 19 games this term.
But with Arsenal coming to Anfield tomorrow at 7.30pm and defending champions Manchester City hosting the Reds on Thursday, Klopp is not getting ahead of himself.
And the German knows that if things don’t go well for them in the next six days, the lead means nothing.
The coach explains: “We play Arsenal and City next so it is good that we have six points more than other teams.
“That is pretty much what we wanted to do from the start - create a basis for the rest of the season.
“We want to create our own history and it is the first time a Liverpool team has gone this long unbeaten in the Premier League and we have conceded only seven goals.
“They are good statistics. But we play Arsenal, then we play City. We have to be really in the mood and have tunnel vision and see where it will leave us.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool's top goalscorer Mo Salah escaped suspension for diving after being reported for contact for the Reds’ second goal in their 4-0 win over Newcastle on Boxing Day and is free to play in the big games.
