Stormers flank Johan du Toit faces an uncertain wait after being cited by Sanzaar for taking out Sharks scrumhalf Louis Schreuder out in the air during their loss in Durban on Saturday.
The looseforward hit Schreuder from the very first kickoff and was fortunate to escape with a yellow card.
Referee AJ Jacobs resisted his assistant’s recommendation to send off Du Toit so early in the match after Schreuder had fallen on his back and had to be replaced by Sanele Nohamba.
But Monday’s first-instance Foul Play Review Committee could see him spend more time on the sidelines than his initial 10 minutes in the sin bin.
Stormers coach John Dobson says there would have been “no complaint” if Du Toit had been red-carded for the incident.
Dobson said after the match: “...If it had been a red card, I’d have had no complaints. I sat there in the coaches box and just thought ‘What the hell just happened?’”
